Title: Underbrace options.
Post by: Thetroublemaker on June 1, 2016, 16:02
Hi there,

I have looked and would like to buy a Underbrace (mattperformance type) it seems he has stopped making these/has closed shop.

Is there any options or anyone else who makes these parts or similar nowadays?

UK MR2 Roadster Owners - you'll know you're in the right one because it's full of UK folk.

Personally. I didn't notice a difference with the underbrace fitted.

If you have standard suspension I think thicker anti-roll bars would be the best first chassis mod.

Have noticed a difference with every brace i have fitted.
Front mid and rear.
Mid brace makes the most difference,on a pfl car it is a must.
You cant have enough bracing.

out of interest - what bracing is compatible with the Matt brace for front and rear?
I was really tempted by a cusco front one - but the seller said that it wasn't compatible?

I'm not on FB, but if you do find out about the underbraces, could you post up here / put my name down, as I really want one.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks mate.

Haha, I was on FB a while back, just couldn't be bothered with it, so deactivated it. So much nicer without it.... But that's going off topic.

You say its a must for a PFL, but what about a FL?
is it needed / worth it?

Definitely not a bad investment on a FL, it just has a bit of a less dramatic transformation compared to the PFL as it has less bracing begin with.

I found the front strut brace on the FL was very/equally effective too at improving the feel of the car.

What's a good front strut brace for MR2s that people have used?
I've seen a few people put them on and kept the plastic trims, looked tidy!

A lot of people using ultra racing. Keeps all the frunk plastics.

It's just that i was wondering if I should take it off my pfl and transfer it to the FL I just bought. The FL feels so strong as it is, I don't think the brace is really needed.. Might sell it or leave it on the pfl as a selling point

Dont leave it on PFL.
If you arent going to use it sell it seperately.
For me the more bracing the better. Especially if you ever go for coilovers.

I'd 100% move it across. As above, you can't really ever have enough bracing and it does make a difference.
