Looking forward to Headcase fitting the Corolla Compressor kit I collected yesterday in August!
Nice! Where did you get the kit? What ECU will you run?
Got it all from Sam nadeem, came with the standard ECU and a Det 3
Should be awesome. I look forward to hearing all about it!
How much £££?
I think you won't be able to run it on standard corolla ECU because it won't run dashboard (unless you keep the stock ecu for running dashboard)...
Headcase is fitting it all for me. He has the knowledge! .
Should be great. Was going to have that for mine but ran out of cash. Will be reading this with interest as it's something I would like to do in the future.
You do know how much this is going to cost me now. I have a rotrex and all the bits, I have a 2zz but cannot decide which car to drop it in. The worse bit is now the strong Dollar as I was going to buy a Apexi looks like I will have to run the Greddy ive got instead.
You can drop it in mine if you want...

I wish I had time out of the house for 14 hours of the day and half the day saturdays. Then my time off kids always want something. Money is nice but when do I spend it? On the plus side I bought the car the 2zz is going in last night 2000 import in blue nice straight car just needs a engine
get it done!
You are costing me a lot of dough!
Hi
Having owned a compressor for six months, I have to say you are in for a real treat. The engine is sublime and so much low down torque, after the first few months, I only used lift when it was up against something special or couldn't resist showing off on the motorway. I sold it to a friend with dibs on it when he sells. I plan to Rotrex mine this winter if I don't hear from him by Sept. Seriously, one of the nicest engines I have ever used. Just a shame they put it in the Corolla!

Isn't it great driving at 3000 rpm and it still pulls like a train even in top
@cabbydave, so you're on compressor too? Anyone else here running stock compressor on 2zz?
It would be really good to document some of this stuff, especially the ecu being used. AFAIK the corolla ecu can be used for engine, but not for the dash. If there is a elegant way around this, it would probably be much more compelling addition to 2zz s:) :) s:)
Delivered car to Patrick on Sat. Due to pick up 26th August. TTE Compressor, intercooler, DET 3 ECU, new shocks, radiator and correct ratio 5th gear all being done!. Tuner setting it up on rolling road on 25th
Looking forward to getting it back.
Any good insurance companys I should speak to about the mods?
Flux has been cheapest for me since going turbo.
Get the car back end of next week, cant wait!
Look forward to hearing about your first drive:-)
Where is Patrick based?
South coast, Bexhill On Sea
Thanks! - ok that's a couple of hours drive for me.
I am up your way on bank holiday monday not in my 2 unfortunately.
Not been in a 2zz supercharged.
Your welcome to pop by if you want me to take you up the road in it,
Quote from: "KRAMSNEHPETS"Your welcome to pop by if you want me to take you up the road in it,
Would love to but perhaps a time when i am under less pressure to do DIY at mother in laws.
I will bring the turbo up sometime and we can do a back to back comparrisson.
Ooooohhhhh you're 45 mins from my work.... Could I arrange an evening in a couple of weeks to come past your place and check it out??
s:D :D s:D Shame only one passenger seat
I think you could sell tickets
Don't see why not Jvanzyl
Parts delay on car. Hope to pick up next sat. Fast forward to sat please!
now being fitted with an Apexi ecu
Car all built and ready now. A great job has been done. just got to wait a while until the tuner is back from holidays to get on rolling road and get mapped!
Looked a very neat install when i saw it friday.
Popped down to see it on Sat. What you down for there on Friday?
Turbo oil feed needs attention.
Among other things.
Dont EVER go down there on a Friday afternnoon.
That A21 is worse than the M25.
Never come back on Sunday morning left at 10 Dartford we got back at 1pm accident down 21 closed both ways m25 because of m20 work I cut down back way and then there was a accident there as well s:( :( s:(

Should have gone to work and fixed my car instead s;) ;) s;)
Fingers crossed that car gets on the dyno and mapped on Thursday. collect sat!
Good luck.
Hope its all you want it to be
Thanks. cant wait!
Nearly ready! Dyno and final map planned for Wednesday. Pick up Thursday all being well!!!

WHOOOOOO HOOO
Looking forward to hearing about the drive after the dyno!
Were there any modifications required to the firewall, or did the compressor fit in without any issues?

Yeah!! Can't wait for the ride along! Hooray for living vicariously through others!

Access panel in bulkhead , has an intercooler with smaller pulley with the compressor permanently engaged, no clutch. Apexi FC ECU . Alternator moved to exhaust side of engine

Thanks for that. Look forward to seeing results of the dyno s:D :D s:D
Got it back, just got home! was not sure what to think of it at first as lift now comes in at 5300 so along with the compressor packing in torque at lower revs the transition in to lift is not that dramatic and gives the impression that the car is not that quick. But after driving it the 90 miles home you can feel the low down power is a lot better than before and you can feel the car pulling hard. Dyno was lower than expected at 225. Will drive more at the weekend and get back to you on it
I think 225 is fair. How much torque? Is that wheels or crank.
215 and 158 is what it makes crank on a corrolla.
I would like to think its a nice conservative tune with perhaps some room to push a bit more in the future. You need to prove reliability. With the intercooler and shorter pulley its not stock anymore.
Last thing you want is det and bye bye engine.
Update. Although car has got 225bhp, it should have more with the smaller pulley. After some discussions and research bigger injectors and water meth kit ordered. Back in the workshop in a couple of weeks time, Replace intercooler with water meth injection and fit 630 injectors. Swopping over supercharger with another one. Should then just need a tweak on the dyno. Hopefully might then get close to 250bhp.
Youve only just fitted the supercharger.
What are you going for some kind of rotrex?
I am sticking with turbos. I make 235 already better charge cooling would see me close to 250 i reckon.
Sorry I was not very clear on the supercharger. Going to swop over with the same , replacement one as one on there has slight noise and want to make sure is not worn
Oh ok better luck with this one.
I'm already finishing swap for 2zz with bemani kit with mp90.
Propably will make topic about it.
Water meth injection kit, MWR 630 injectors now arrived. Booked in mid month for work to be done
Reaplacement compressor fitted, first one had a slight issue. only putting out 4psi, new one at 7, intercooler removed , water meth injection kit fitted along with boost gauge and inlet temp sensor for charger. New 630 injectors in.
Going back on rolling road Thursday. All being well will collect sat with hopefully over 240bhp and a good amount of torque!
Roll on Sat!
Why bin the intercooler?
Glad you are getting somewhere with it.
Hope you got your money back on the original supercharger.
general opnion was that water meth to cool it would be more effective than intercooler. charger swopped at no cost
Quote from: "KRAMSNEHPETS"general opnion was that water meth to cool it would be more effective than intercooler. charger swopped at no cost
It is but it's also more difficult to setup correctly and getting it wrong can be fatal for the engine
That's why I am not doing it! Is in good hands
What meth kit have you got and is it being wired up to the ecu so when it runs out the ecu retards the engine.
Devils own kit. Running with Apexi, don't know how its being wired, leave that to the man who is doing it. I will not let it run out! Only use the car at weekends...
Good luck with it.
Think i would have tried a charge cooler myself.
Have you seen the great price TCB are offering on forged con rods?
With those and a set of low compression pistons you could really turn the boost up.
Just got home with it.... screw A21 and M25..... 5 hours to do 90 miles. 2am!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quote from: "KRAMSNEHPETS"Just got home with it.... screw A21 and M25..... 5 hours to do 90 miles. 2am!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really?
Thats madness.
What sbe drive like now?
Drives well, strong low down power. No need to max it out at 8500rpm as lift comes in at 5500 just as pressure drops and still feels quick. Has got 190 at the wheels. not sure what flywheel figure is as the dyno only produces at the wheel figure
250-255 at the crank?
Quote from: "Mark A"250-255 at the crank?
Some say 25% drivetrain loss.
Not sure i agree with that especially with our cars.
m http://www.superstreetonline.com/how-to ... ower-loss/ (http://www.superstreetonline.com/how-to/engine/modp-1005-drivetrain-power-loss/) m
C6x loses around 30bhp at 6800rpm, so possibly another 7 or 8bhp by 8500rpm. I can imagine it being very drivable linear, lag free power, must be a sweet drive! Nice work.
All this bhp stuff is all over the place! How are you supposed to know what the at the fly wheel figure is? I always thought that figure quoted were Fly wheel figures. How do manufactures come to there figures and people quote their bhp figures from a dyno test.
Despite all that stuff, yes the car has nice linear power across the rev range. Got to get the map tweaked as it is suffering from a bit of pinking, mostly between 3000-4000 rpm. Private road test in 4th gear, 60-100mph took 7 seconds
Manufactures use an engine dyno striaght of the flywheel???
Rolling road is what we all have our mods tuned on.
Doesnt matter what it makes as long as you are happy with it.
Do you think it will beat a Boxster S?
Thats the sort of performance i am looking for.
I recon mines quicker than a boxster s, so yours should be quicker Scott.
we need to meet up scott! What figures have you got for your car?
We can meet up.
Remeber i mentioned my mother in law lives in Harlow?
I will be taking my car to the same dyno as you at some stage.
A few years back on a different 1zz it made 235 bhp fly wheel/crank not at the wheels.
Its an SP240 turbo kit and thats what they do.
Thinking about booking a dyno run at Redline in Basildon so that I can get a flywheel figure
Quote from: "KRAMSNEHPETS"Thinking about booking a dyno run at Redline in Basildon so that I can get a flywheel figure
Dont bother. Its a made up figure.
Nobody can tell you how much your engine makes unless its removed from the car and dynod from the flywheel.
Did you follow that link i posted that talks all about drivetrain loss?
Tbh we should all quote whp like they do in the states.
If you are searching for serious power then the TRD charger is not the way to go.
A rotrex will see you at 300bhp and more.
Get yourself some forged rods and pistons and the sky is the limit.
For the most power for your money though you cant beat a turbo.
not looking for more power! happy with what i have. time to get some paint work done soon and stop spending! did a rough calculation what i have spent so far, bit scary even after adding man maths to it!
Tonight has been the first time I have had a good chance to drive the car as it was off the road a few days after I got it back with the fuel pipe coming off the pump, luckily on the driveway when I started it and not on the road....... Nothing I hasten to add with the work done by Headcase. Retaining clip broken on pump I suspect when new handbrake cables fitted earlier this year, pipe held on by a piece of wire....
Pulls very strong across the whole rev range and you have to keep an eye on the speedo as you are soon going faster than you think.
Got to say that the bridgestone tyres are great in the wet, never has a moment with them. Will need replacement in a couple thousand miles and am not sure what to replace them with as I understand that the correct sizes are no longer available
Yoko AD08R.
No point having all that power if it doesnt stick to the road.

Consider these as only average tyres in the deep cold, but it's worth nannying them in the winter for the extra summer grip

Its November 22nd and i have had only 2/3 frosty days this winter in my corner of the south east.
When i actually experience some deep cold on them i may change my mind.
