Has anyone else had this problem? For some time the driver's seat seemed like it wasn't bolted down properly on the side nearest the door. Last weekend I finally got round to having a proper look, and discovered that one of the bolts holding the seat onto the rack at the front was missing. I've never found one rolling around on the floor or anything, and can't say how long it's been like that but it seemed to have got a lot worse in the last week or so before, which is what prompted me to finally investiagte it.
Anyway, I thought I'd remove a bolt from the passenger seat assembly, so I could take it to Toyota and get a replacement. Unfortunately, when I tried to unscrew it, the end sheared off about 0.5cm from the top s:roll:  s:roll: I got a new bolt for the driver's seat (33 pence, had to order it - you'd think they'd at least keep some bolts in stock) and fitted it, then checked the other side of the driver's seat, only to find that that bolt was on the verge of falling out. Tightened it up, but seems weird that both were loose.
The only thing that I can think of is that it seemed to start round about the time I got it serviced, but I don't see why Toyota would remove the seat during a routine service?
Finally, does anyone have a good tip for getting the rest of the bolt that's still screwed into the passenger seat out?!

I would carefully remove the other 3 bolts along with disconnecting the electrical cable and remove the seat. Then hopefully there will be some of the top of the sheared bolt proud of the floor to allow extraction using mole grips. If not you will have to drill through the bolt and use a thread extractor to remove s:wink:  s:wink:
Sounds like someone has been after getting the centre console off (? handbrake adjustment) and pigs-eared it. If this is Toyota's doing at service you need to have words about them jeopardising your safety - if they care about track record they should put it right without hesitation.
These are pretty substantial bolts and shouldn't shear off. So I'm thinking that it could be cross-threaded. If this is the case, and given the potential pitfalls of a tough removal & thread damage on the chassis, I'd go with the moan to Toyota approach & hand the problem back to them!
But if you're DIY'ing it, Heath's plan should be good for getting the leftover bolt out. Squirt of PlusGas overnight should help ease it on its way with good grips. If you're drilling to tap an extractor in, don't forget that PG is flammable! If there is thread damage to the chassis, you might need to drill out, re-thread and helicoil the hole.
