Title: Anyone ever returned a tyre?
Post by: Anonymous on January 17, 2005, 16:23
I am returning a set of rears for my S to the manufacturer (Bridgestone) due to some unusual accelerated wear. I change at 3mm and basically have gone through a complete set in 4.5K miles that were new this September. The previous set did 9K with an airfield session and me making the most of hot dry summer roads.

This wear rate therefore compares badly as I have been driving as conservatively as possible during these cold wet months. The wear pattern seems fine plus the car had a full alignment done after they were put on in Sept. It just looks like they have done 9-10K not 4.5K

So has anyone else ever had tyres, irrespective of manufacturer, returned for investigation and, if so, what was the outcome?

Some years back, I returned a tyre to Goodyear because it went out of balance with a big lump on the sidewall.  I was certain I'd not hit anything to distort the tyre.  They coughed up 60% of the replacement cost, based on wear.
