Title: headlight bulb q
Post by: robLFC on November 24, 2016, 16:37
hi has a 2003 mr2. it has seperate dipped and full beam bulbs on her car light unit .
i thought the driving dipped bulb was an h7, but it seems the wrong fitting now i have them so i need to buy correct ones
what is the exact bulb fitting ie h3 hb3 h4 hb4 etc ? so confusing and i dont want to shell out for more wrong ones !
thanks

ps - i have changed the sidelights easy enough to newer led white bulbs , so presume its definitely a facelift as i understand to change pre facelift i wouldnt be able to do that lol. its also a 6 speed box and has front fogs so pretty sure its facelift !

Hi rob, if it is a FLwith original headlights it'sa H7, bear in mind the facelift has a black adaptor thing from Toyota.  When you removed the old bulb you pull this off and put the new bulb on it.  I'm not sure what the "thing" is called but it makes the bulb longer.
From the front you shouldn't be able to actually see the bulb as there is a dome over it; is that what you have?

its like a projectory 'cyclops' opaque domed thing that you cannot see actual bulb mate yes .
ive reassembled now, but when i pulled bulb out it was totally wrong looking black bit so i put it back together !
side wedges where so simple  s;-) ;-) s;-)
thanks

actually thinking, maybe its got the wrong bulbs currently fitted in there ?

the new one is definitely an H7 fitting , looks like this :

once i unclipped the wire frame and removed the existing bulb i saw the black plastic part was different i put it back in , perhaps i should have a go at mounting tomorrow
