Title: Standard 15" wheels cracking
Post by: russw69 on January 5, 2017, 20:15
Has anyone had or heard of the standard 15" alloy wheels cracking?

My 2002 model developed a strange noise from the right rear, I assumed it was the brakes, on closer inspection 3 out of 5 spokes are fractured and the other two have started! One on the other wheel has also started to crack!

Have your wheels been powder coated?  I have heard of this happening later if they are baked at too high a temperature.

That was a very lucky spot, could have been very nasty.

There was someone on here who had a wheel collapse while driving which wrote the car off.

Have seen such a wheel.
Just do not know the history as to how come it ended up like it.
