Gearing up to rebuild suspension on the rear of the car over the coming week. I've been trying to think through the best order to do stuff. I need to fit:
All arms
coilovers
New sub frame.
I was thinking fit the traction arms and coilovers first, then disconnect the track and toe arms at the hubs, and drop the whole sib frame with them attached. Then refit the new sub frame and arms.
Is that sensible? Does it work that way?
My main worries are getting the cat section of the exhaust off, and popping a driveshaft out by mistake.... That or hitting some snag I'm not aware of.
Several routes you could take. If you're fitting new arms to a new subframe you may as well drop the old parts off in one go rather than fit the arms, remove the frame, and then refit the arms again.
The main cat will have to come off, along with a couple of other bits such as engine mount central bolt and ABS brackets. If its still there on your 2zz, watch out for parts clipped to the airbox shield as you drop the assembly - they obviously need to be liberated.
Driveshafts will stay put - the NS shaft is held into the box with a snap ring, the OS one by the carrier bearing on the engine block. Just support the hubs to stop them flopping around and straining the CV joint rubbers.
Ta. I think I've got a pretty clear idea of what order to go. Thanks.
Oh, and alignment afterwards. I'm sure its already on your list of stuff to do.
If you're replacing like for like, you can just about get away with returning the new toe bars to where the old ones were before.
Are you going with crash/cam bolts for camber adjust too?
Put it off for a few weeks and you could always take advantage of the Ding Day meet and alignment offer. Its a day out s:wink:  s:wink:
Sadly ding day is after my Nurburgring trip which is what this is all for. The car has a hot date with wheels in motion to have it's bolts tweaked. I'll just be getting it fit to get there safely.
I have rear camber bolts.
Hard race toe arms which I'll just set to stock length prior to alignment.
I'll try and make ding day anyway, it sounds ace. Thanks for the help!
