Title: electric aerial mast
Post by: Anonymous on February 2, 2005, 14:14
Hi

Can anyone tell me how much a replacement electric aerial mast is going to cost from a Toyota dealer.  Is there anyone else selling OEM parts that may be cheaper?

Thanks

Polly

They are probably a fortune as I went to replace one on a previous motor and it was around £200  s:shock:  s:shock:  Better to look for a small flexible S2000 jobbie  s:wink:  s:wink:

for information, short antennas sells quite well actually, so I guess there are lot of people with electric antenna in their garage they might want to sell  :-) :-) :-)

Bit off topic but... How easy are those short antennas to fit Dieamond, i have been toying with the idea of getting one, as i really dislike the huge UFO homing mast that sticks of the back drivers side of my 2. When i have looked around in the car i cant see a logical place to get at the aerial workings from?  s:wink:  s:wink:

I've thought of taking mine out because I have Sirius, but you're right, you can't see how to get to it.  I vaguely remember a writeup and believe you have to remove the fender.  It looked like a lot of work to remove a small amount of weight, but I may do it one of these days anyway.  I just checked spydermagazine.com (Articles) and didn't find it.  It may have been on spyderchat (currently down).

IIRC, you just need to take the plastic inner fender off (and a wheel).
