Title: 17"wheel tyres
Post by: chalced on April 12, 2017, 11:21
Looking at getting new tyres next week. I have 17"all round at the moment all on 205/40/17. I want to go for a stagger this time but my local tyre centre has limited stock. Can I get away with 225/45/17 on the rear and keep the 205/40/17 on the front?

I Have 205s on the front and 215s on the rear 17x7s all round with no rubbing

I'm more worried about using the 45 profile on the rear rather than the width tbh

Looks like about 15mm additional on the radius. Couple with the slightly wider tyre, may indeed cause a rub. How much lower than stock are you?
Are you running 7/7.5/8" on the rear?

Is it worth trying another tyre place? TW Tyres in Rugby can usually get most things an look after me pretty well.

the cars not lowered at all which is why I am thinking I may get away with it.
Don't really want to drive it too far as it is which is why I am just looking at the place around the corner from me.

Was hoping I could get 225/35/17 or 215/40/17, but not much choice in those sizes

Would you be better trying a mobile fitting service then, if you don't want to drive that far?

or

can you take the wheels off the car and do it that way?
