Title: Coolant Hose advice
Post by: Lurgy on April 15, 2017, 17:45
I have a coolant leak from the front end. The leak is coming from the joint highlighted in the photo. It looks like the original clamps so I'm wondering if its worth trying a new clamp or should I go for a hose replacement? Hose ID name/number would be helpful..lol

Double jubilee clip it, those original clips get slack over time. That's how I did mine when I did rad swap.

I replaced the 4 hoses with eBay silicone ones for about £40, plus Mikalor hose clamps. Can't remember the clamp diameter I'd have to look it up! Same point on mine went. I double clamped it as a temporary solution but felt replacement was my best option. It's done roadtrips /Nurburgring laps since and been rock solid.

Good Time to do a radiator if that's original too. £100 and a mornings work sees your coolant system sorted right out.

People big the coolant system up as being horrific on MR2's but in my experience they've been fine. The bleeding/burping process is just a bit more involved.

Agree with above if it hasnt had a coolant and rad change in your ownership well worth doing.
Coolant should be changed every ten years if you use toyota long life red/pink.

I got mine from this ebay seller (http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/uk-performance-uk) Who doesn't appear to have any now.

However this looks decidedly similar (http://r.ebay.com/Sreuo3) - Long lead times and weird description though....
