Title: Help please - Re: Ebay short shifter & bushing sets?!
Post by: Anonymous on February 6, 2005, 12:17
Hi all,

I am considering buying a short shifter off ebay for my 6 speed mr2! I was wondering who is a good seller for these as i am in the uk and would need it sending over, hopefully ass a gift!!!!

Also considering getting made by speed source!

Shifter Base Bushing Kit- Toyota (brass)
Shift Cable Bushing Kit-Toyota (brass)

Do people think there is any need to do this or are the standard items made by toyota and the aluminium base bushes that come with the ebay kit sufficeint?

Regards

Dom

P.S. I ahve read the posts on the forum, but all they have done is confuse me!

These usually come with a short shifter. Their material doesn't really matter, as long as it's not rubber  s;) ;) s;)

Personally, I do like the cable bushings and think you should get them as well.

I have bushings at both ends in metal, and it improved the short shifter no end in my experience, so for the low cost, yes I would advise both.

Also, could you only posts your question in the one thread please as it will be confusing trying to follow the answers over three threads, thanks.

I bought a 6spd short shifter through e-bay, from Mark Shil. $63 delivered, about £35. Included the shifter base bushings and gear knob. His email is  e macsy52@hotmail.com e .

I don't know what the difference is, but I understand there is one, make sure you get 6spd.

AFAIAA 3 of us have fitted so far, none have been that exstatic about it.
