Title: Roadangel 2 GPS Speed Camera detector - Stealth Install
Post by: GSB on February 6, 2005, 17:11
A bit of spare leather from my armrests and gear shift gaiter, some evo-stik, and can of builders expanding foam...

Its not perfect, but I magine now I've got the general idea I can easily make a better one... Best of all is the fact that you can just close the lid when you leave the car, and despite being under all that foam, leather and plastic, GPS reception is un-affected, so no external antenna is required. Laser detection is taken care of by a remote sensor in the bumper...

I'm going to try something similar with my original RoadAngel. I looking to set up something like a centre-spread pop-up so when you open the lid the rear of the Angel lifts level with the front. I'm not that bothered about the laser detector as I figure once it bleeps they've got you already.

Have you drilled through the base for the wiring?

Yes... If you pull out the rubber mat, you can drill through the back wall. If you drill in th lower right corner you wont hit anything important, and its easy to pass cables into it from under the dash.

Grant,

does this mean you have the door of the pop up panel up whenever you need to use it? or is it remoevable?

Yes, unless you just listen to it, but frankly theres already enough annoying bleeping going on in the '04 models that for the sake of my sanity I dont really want to add any more. So, I'm going to work out a way of adding an extra stop to the travel of the door, so it will hold in place once its about 3 or 4 inches open.
