Title: Foxy's roof tension!
Post by: Chilli Girl on June 1, 2017, 14:00
I've noticed when shutting the roof, the passenger side is always alittle trickier to get closed, the gap is abit wider than the other side as if its a fraction tighter to close. Roof is completely waterproof. Just wondered whether I could adjust tensioner in any way to help me.

1st I would check the cable ties inside are both fully tighten up they help pull the roof into the gutters when lifting. When sitting in the drivers seat you will find one just behind your right shoulder underneath a small fabric cover. Like wise for the opposite.

Just been to check the tie cables and found them thanks.  They both seem to be the same tension, funny enough tonight it seemed abit easier to close.  Perhaps I ought to eat more spinage!   s:roll:  s:roll:

When Jack Smith fitted my new roof he gave me a couple of tips on the roof (amongst around 300 tips on brexit!).

Firstly make sure the edge of the roof which goes behind the door window frames fits snugly in the groove in the frame - the roof has wire in this section and should be in place in the groove - also suggested making sure it is out when opening as the roof will fold flatter.

Secondly, windows down or doors open when closing.

Hi Paul, yes always have the windows or doors open when I close it.  Thanks for the advice, I'll take another look tomorrow as I think it maybe the last decent day to go lidless (Jase's saying) for a while going by the forecast.  s:( :( s:(

Have you checked the pensioners on the latches? There is some adjustment there.

When I was being shown what to do, when at Jack Smiths, he showed me (in addition to the above) how to get the latches started, As the roof is close to fully in place, clip the latches over their notches while they are still in the open (expanded) postion.  Then snap them shut.

It is a worry when auto correct starts coming up with that kind of thing   s:? :? s:?  Anyway, must go, time for my afternoon nap   s:) :) s:)

Back to topic... Occasionally, one of my latches isn't quite lined up properly. Very hard to close, then goes with a loud 'crack'. Have you checked the latches are lining up properly?
