Does Jack in Swansea do vinyl roofs too? If not, can anyone recommend anyone in my area please?
When I was looking for my mohair roof I came across this company that do vinyl not aware of anyone else

Jack will do vinyl, he had a roll of the "standard" textured vinyl which would have matched mine when I was there. Give him a call and discuss.
One question though, why vinyl when you can have mohair?
Thanks Bernie & Paul, was just interested to know how much less was the vinyl opposed to the cloth? It's for a friends old MGF that she's got which seems to attract the birds and she was wondering about vinyl for it. I said, just get rid of the car and buy a 2. s:lol:  s:lol: s:lol:  s:lol:
MGF here :-) :-) :-)

Vinyl hoods are easier to maintain than Mohair or canvas

True but the also look terrible.
Worst feature of any roadster.
Thats why i try to go everywhere with the roof down.

They also split in the creases/folds which mine has done.
I enquired here and was quoted something like £650 fully and fitted in a day. Glass heated rear screen.

My vinyl looks good - Has been on my Blue o2 plate during 6 years of ownership ( No splits ) - The same as the red hood on my Red edition ( Although not Vinyl in this case ) Both look good up or down!!
I think alot depends on how well you care for them, Chilli's roof was original & still looked good after 12 years but then I did condition it alot.
My car was 13 years old last Sunday & I've owned it from new. This means I've had full control & been the only person who has opened & closed the roof.
The roof still looks like new even now. At the MR2DC meeting on Sunday a number of Roadster owners asked me how I managed to keep my roof looking so good and all were impressed with the way the roof looks when folded down - no ears and no flaps, it stays totally flat.
My theory is because the roof has always been treated gently and I specifically make a point of folding the roof down carefully, making sure the straps pull the ears in correctly and the rear is also folded in, then that's the secret. I also fold it very slowly if the weather is cold & never force it. For the past 5 years I've had a hard top fitted during winter & I've made a special point of ensuring the soft top was folded down correctly before fitting it.
I agree treat it gently no forcing it down, also keep it clean, the only thing I have found is that it vibrates more now than it used to.
