One of the flexies has gone on my cat so I need a new one. I could just buy an OEM one from my nearest tyre and exhaust place. But could I do better for the similar money buying from elsewhere? What are my options?

Can you not just weld on new generic flexies. Or mothing to weld to

What about a 2nd hand one from a breaker, or should you always go for a new one for piece of mind? I've been looking myself as my cat has a terrible rattle at low revs.....sounds like something loose inside, notwithstanding, it still passed the MOT s:D :D s:D

I've looked at cats2u and MR2ben but still haven't made up my mind which way to go, but I do want something that is reliable and does the job properly.

Quite a few of us have the one from Cats2U with good results.

Thanks Carolyn. I've also looked at another post (Ebay Catalysts) which says the same, so will probably go with the certified version. I'll also look at retrofitting the heat shields & if impossible, go down the wrapping route. I too was worried that the Cats2u one doesn't have flexies on one end, but everyone recons they fit well without.

Cats2u has 2 flexis, exactly the same as the OEM one.
I've just fitted one.

Thanks everyone. I've just fitted a Cats2U cat. What a ball ache though. The mounting holes on the front flange needed opening out to get it on the studs and the spring bolt things didn't really line up either. The Spring bolts are a PITA to get going too. Seems OK now though.

I think I did say this before. But as a cat, it's fine. The spring bolts are made of chocolate. I ended up replacing them with high-tensile ones and nuts because my TTE exhaust was more or less threaded too (particularly once I farted about with those spring ones they supplied).

Not to mention they came with possibly the worst dougnut gaskets too - one of them didn't even fit!
I ended up using a proper toyota one on the rear and 2 suzuki baleno ones on the front (They're the same)
