Title: TRD kit - PFL
Post by: stevex on July 9, 2017, 18:50
Hi Guys,

As the car is going in the body shop for some paint work in August, I figured I may as well get everything done in one go, so I am looking for a PFL TRD style lip kit with skirts, anyone know where I can get one? Or anyone have any parts of it kicking around?

Googling and ebay seems fairly fruitless, only FL stuff around mostly, or odd separate parts that aren't the ones I want.

Thanks,

Thanks chaps.

The first one is the one, I sent two messages to that place and no response.

Also tried adding it to my cart this evening and the website crashed :/

I DO also like second one, but I already contacted the seller on eBay (same picture so I assume same seller?) And he said the front spats do not fit  s:( :( s:(

Cheers!

Looks like someone has been the victim of photobucket...I did however find this cached in google if it helps..

Thanks, I tried looking and saw all of the broken links.

If I am honest I think the 1st kit looks better on a PFL. I think they suit the FL much more with it's more modern style front bumper.

Thanks for the find.

Thanks I guess you are up north from me, but it sounds like you wan't a similar price to the new one, so travelling to collect, then having to sand it down to prep for spraying probably wouldn't be worth it for me.

Cheers.

Yup it wouldn't make sense for you if you wanted to repainted. Be careful of cheap fibreglass parts though. Fitment can be hit and miss and you soon eat up the saving with extra body shop costs

Is yours a genuine Toyota kit?

No but it's not the altezza one. Can't remember who made makes it off the top of my head.
I'm not saying the altezza kit won't fit but from my experience some cheap fibreglass kits take some fiddling with and aren't straight forward as they seem .

I have an HZaltezza pfl lip on my pfl front bumper and Nigels TTE GB side skirts and rear spats. They are all fibreglass rather than plastic and I have heard some people say the fit is better than the genuine thing. I did have some trouble getting my side skirts to fit as they were a mm or two shorter than I would have liked. Not sure if this means my wings have been replaced/moved  at some time but I got the skirts on in the end. I cant say I have heard anyone else say they had a problem with them though so I may have been unlucky!

The altezza lip was made up for me about a year ago and I went and picked it up. Ringing them is probably a good idea as I doubt they get many MR2 orders these days.

I dont think you will find a new genuine bodykit easily now as they are ridiculously expensive and I suspect that is probably because they stock one just in case of some insurance company is looking for one.

I seem to remember someone saying a bodykit from Mr T was about £1500? You may possibly find a secondhand one but I am very happy with my fibreglass ones though and would recommend them, especially for the cost.

Yes most Bodykits you need sand here or there most of the time we had great feedback with our parts as we used genuine parts for moulding so best you get with replica parts

My car has some extra rubber skirts underneath the bodykit too which probably makes it look lower.

I seen those plf on eBay at £250.00 I could produce them cheaper if I had a good fitting one to mould from

Here is the rear of the car. The side skirts and rear spats fit both fl & pfl, its just the front bumper that is different.

Hope this helps Steve!

Thanks for that, so it does go well, I like the more subtle FL sideskirts, and it seems to look great when combined with the PFL front lip, appreciate the pics.

Nigel, there's a bumper on ebay at the moment, not sure if it has an original TRD lip or aftermarket though, but seems to fit the bumper well. Only problem is, it does have some damage.

Thanks buddy, one of my main concerns with the PFL kit was that my exhaust sits tight against the bottom part of the stock bumper, so the extra PFL skirt might be an issue fitment wise, whereas with the FL spats, it's not an issue  s:) :) s:)

Hi can you please tell me what sizes those wheels Are? Cheers

The wheels are 15x7 front, 16x7 rear with ET35. I wouldnt recommend the ET35 on the rear, ET38 would be better as the 225 rear tyre can rub occasionally.

They do them though I can't remember the company. You can try asking R2 Automotive to get them for you as their k20 demo car has one piece FRP bumpers with molded TRD lip front and rear.
