Title: Poor running following rebuild
Post by: Chris 180SX on July 12, 2017, 10:38
Hi All just looking for ideas with a running issue I am having after rebuilding.  The car idles at around 1500rpm and is not steady at this.  Also the rev limiter cuts in at 6krpm.  Otherwise inbetween these it runs ok.  I thought it may be an intake manifold leak so this was checked ok.  Also no other air leaks found and AFM was cleaned also.  Any ideas would be much appreciated, thanks  s:) :) s:)

Are we talking standard 1zz?
The high idle is likely a sticking idle air control valve.
It should rev past 6k - air leaks might be relevant for that. Checking what the o2 sensors and fuel trims are doing would be worth investigating I think.

Fueling ok?
Seems odd for the limiter to move, but it's more aligned maybe with runjibg out of steam.

All those little earths from the loom to the engine are really important.  Make sure they are all clean and well seated.
