Title: Twin exhaust
Post by: stchris356 on July 19, 2017, 22:53
Hello everyone,
I'm hoping to get a little more noise from my exhaust, don't get me wrong, I don't want it to sound like someone removed the whole exhaust, but I'm just a bit disappointed in the lack of exhaust note.
I also like the look of the twin pipes, anybody have any recommendations before I spend too much time in the early hours searching the interweb?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

I fitted a Fox to mine after trawling reviews, threads and feedback on here. I'm plenty happy with it, some will say go for Cobra but they're quite "sporty".
Fox-wise around town it's a nice, low tone. At motorway speeds in top (5th for me PFL) you can't hear it above the road noise so it isn't droney but when you drive it like you stole it it sounds lovely!

If you can't get a TTE/REMUS for reasonable money then people do seem to like the fox.
Cobra CHE and Janspeed are a bit more antisocial.
You can always get something custom made by companies like proflow.

I use to have an Remus on my previous MR2, and to be honest, I was a little bit disappointed with the sound that came from it. I was used to have an more sporty sound that I had on my former MG's.
Now I have an MR2 with an Cobra exhaust, It's more sporty sounding than the Remus. I can imagine that if it's your daily driver that it will be to much.
But I'm thinking of replacing the down pipe for an straight one, to have even more sound. Sorry neighbors  s:) :) s:)

TTE all day long for me. Best noise on a stock roadster & not too intrusive.

Like Scotte says though - if you can find one at reasonable cost.

Maybe someone else who was there on Sunday (Scotte?) might be able to comment, but I'd say my TTE is anything but quiet.
I'd certainly not go for anything noisier!

TTE isn't loud but I wouldn't call it quiet.
Perfect comes to mind.
Then it should be with companies like Toyota and Remus behind it.

And here's me. I like quiet.  Quieter the better.

TTE exhaust on mine is perfect, bit of noise when accelerating, doesn't boom on the motorway but still slightly aggressive on idle.

Another vote for the TTE or Remus exhaust ideal for a standard car and wanting a more sporty tone without the drone.

I agree with you, for an standard car it's just right.
Nobody wants to sound like an Race car, without the power to suit it.

The car i had before my first MR2 with the Remus exhaust was an MGF with an Milltek exhaust and decat. If you know how that sounds, than you'll know why I was disapointed  with the sound of the MR2 with the Remus.

I think that the best way to decide is to listen several to compare.

If TTE are so good...Why is the one on ebay still for sale?

The one on eBay looks very used and bit expensive.
They usual sell very quick when priced correctly.

Got to remember genuine TTE haven't been made in maybe 10 years so they must all be getting a bit worn out.
Assume Remus still manufacturers them with there own branding.

Remus do make them still but with round tail pipes not oval. They are also around the £680 mark and not stamped tte.

For nearly the same money as the eBay one, you can get a brand new one from Pro Flow, fitted!

Because it's £100 overpriced.

Around £250 is the going rate.
