Out of interest has anyone managed to remove the exhaust manifold without removing the nappy?
Had a look and it looks vaguely possible if all the bolts cooperate though maybe it's just as easy to remove the nappy.
Mike, one of the first jobs I did on my 2 was to de cat the OE manifold. To do this I removed the nappy and believe it would have been very difficult to access the lower manifold support fixings with nappy in place. You will likely be using Plus gas or similar penetrating fluid before starting and with nappy in place this will doubtless get a soaking in the fluid. This being flammable I believe means nappy best removed as I have read on here of nappys burning and causing some panic for the driver.
The next job I did was re tap all the broken off nappy fixings and replace with stainless. Nappy removal and refitting for me now is not a chore.
Thanks Tony, I was just trying to be lazy which often ends up being harder and takes longer. All nappy fixings come off fine so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle.
It's doable if you remove the bumper...[emoji23]
Regarding the plus gas overspray, I use puppy pads if I'm pre soaking anything, lay one underneath the soaked items and it absorbs any overspray.

There is no need to remove the bumper. The nappies do have to come off.
