Hi there!
As you know if you read my introduction, I'm swapping my 1zz for a 2zz...
The engine is now on it's place. But, when I filled the coolant reservoir, and started the engine, the 1st cylinder got flooded with engine coolant...
What might it be? head gasket? cracked head? Or the engine I've just bought is just a piece of trash??
The mechanics said that it can be the channels where the coolant passes through the head that might be worn out... Or the gasket is too worn out... I don't know...
Anyone knows anything about something like this?
If it's just the first cylinder, it might be the gasket on the idle air control valve. Have you done anything with the throttle body?
If the engine is from a front end damaged car, it could be a cracked head or block.
I don't think you'll know until you get the head off.
I know this sounds silly, but I have my reasons:
Take the pan (sump) off first, 'cos it's a lot easier than taking the head off and you'll learn a lot from the exercise. Take off number one bearing cap. There's a fair chance you'll find a trashed bearing. A badly trashed bearing can allow the piston to hit the head (I just dismantled a 1ZZ that had that exact problem and it had resulted in leakage at the top.)
Hopefully it's not critical like a cracked block s:( :( s:( That's the 2zz lottery though isn't it?
Fingers crossed it's just a gasket of some kind
Where are you located?
