So I have fitted new rear calipers, reconditioned ones from Euro Car Parts think they are Remy from what the box said. Bled the system. Went for a test drive (all seems fine). Double checked this morning and both rear nipples are leaking from the threads s:o :o s:o
I have cheked it's not excess fluid hanging about from the bleed. When I put on the rubber dust cap you can hear the fluid seeping slightly out.
I have replaced the nipples with new in case that was the issue.
Having tightened and snapped a bleed nipple off in the distant past, I have been cautious but they are now both tight and still slightly seeping s:( :( s:(
Before I throw in the towel and limp the car to the nearest garage, does anyone have any nuggets of wisdom on this? PTFE seems to be a no no and a bodge which is not something I want to do with brakes.
Thanks
It's not the threads which make the seal, it's the seat against the taper on the nipple. As both are leaking that suggests that there is some type of contamination on the body of the caliper. The only thing I would consider is whether there is any paint which has found its way onto the seat surface during the remanufacturing process.

Completely agree Gazza. The fluid is emerging from the top of the threads is what I meant.
I have given them another slight tighten and although at first there was a bit more fluid. They seem to have settled as there is no more fluid emerging.
With the simplest explanation being the most likely I probably didn't tighten them enough. Fingers crossed I have solved the slight leak. I will be checking them daily.
If it's any help, I replaced my rears with refurbs from Brakes International last month.
Had never bled brakes before but found to my frustration, the rear left weeped slightly once cracked open to bleed, no matter how little you opened it. Once tightened up it was fine, so it has to be the seat as above.
All other three on the car were fine, as were all four on my mini, so I'm not putting it down to user technique. I guess it must come down to what condition the calipers are in before they refurb t hem.
If you have some brake-hose pliers (and rubber hoses so you can use them), you can pinch off the hose and then remove the offending bleed nipple. Very little fluid (if any) will leak. A bit of a clean around the seat with some fine wet-and-dry often cures the issue. Worth getting into the seat in the caliper with a bit of rag for a good wipe...
I think the refurbishers put in new nipples and sometimes they are a bit rough.
Just a thought.....
All is now solved with this issue. I think it was a combination of the caliper refurb and the nipple. Essentially the nipple (tapered end) wasn't making a good seat in the caliper. I decided, having looked at the nipple, that they looked of poor quality so I replaced them and tightened the new ones up. Of course I bled the brakes as part of the change. No further issues - fingers crossed.
Glad to hear it's fixed and good tips from both of you.
As / when mine needs a fluid change I'll address it.
