Title: Car in a ditch
Post by: deviantmr-s on September 25, 2017, 04:01
Hoping you guys can help... I decided I liked a ditch so much earlier this evening that I would take a closer look!   s:roll:  s:roll:

After being checked out I am fine. I have a few minor things to sort (hopefully) but the maintenance light has appeared.  I do not suppose there is anyone near who has a reader to help me find out the problem? I am in Langholm, but can travel a little ways with the car.

Thanks.   s:D :D s:D

Failing that the code readers are cheap enough on eBay or amazon, it's worth getting one for the future

Sorry to hear that, Caroline.

I have a reader but I'm up in Glasgow. Like the man says, it's worth the £15 or thereabouts to get one for yourself. I bought this one (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stoga-CAN-BUS-ENGINE-SCANNER-Diagnostic/dp/B005FOIC3I/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1506325317&sr=8-4&keywords=OBD2+reader) from Amazon. Available on Prime for next day delivery too. Works fine. Tells you the code then you do a search on here to find out which lambda sensor has popped the heater circuit   s:lol:  s:lol:    s:lol:  s:lol:

Very sorry to hear about the ditch but glad you are ok.

If you have a smart phone its a good idea to buy an obd-ll bluetooth reader (on amazon £ 8-12) as you will save money whenever you use it and it works on most cars so very handy to have.

I expect the ditch has ripped a wire out somewhere - maybe an ABS sensor or the bottom o2 sendor?

Sad to read of your accident, but very glad you are OK. Fingers crossed your car will not have any major damage.

Glad you're ok!

Hope it's just a lambda you need!

Importantly your "fine", hopefully your 2 is also, if not a little t£c will surely fix it.

Thanks for that, I purchased this very one, but it does not work - just comes up there is a connection error, so unable to get it to work. Tried it on another MR2 - same thing. Maybe faulty?! Unsure.

Hi, sorry to hear about your off but glad you're in one piece!
Didn't we decide some time ago that you needed a JOBD with it being an import?

It was Peter Scholler's car and to my knowledge it is not an import. The other MR2 I tried it on was most definitely not an import, and it came up with the same error message.

Nothing to do with the car at all... all my fault. My MR2 is grounded, in fact feels glued to the road. My fault entirely. I love speed (not that I endorse speeding of course), and my 2 can be turned on a knife edge and has never had a problem of the backend kicking out in dry or wet weather.

I was upset and that did not mix well with how I drove on the country road. I was not concentrating on the road. Total driver error.

Man who's Roadster ends up in a ditch:  "Wet leaves under the trees", "The tyres let go", "These cars are tail-happy", "It just snapped on me, don't know why"....

Woman who's Roadster ends up in ditch: "I screwed up".

I am fine, a few bumps and scratches but fine. Pride dented maybe lol, and no I will not be doing that again!

Lesson learnt - beat the hell out of the person who upset you and DO NOT take the car out!   s:D :D s:D

Hi Caroline, I have my reader in the car at Ayr. Being retired and free I could meet you somewhere near  Ayr if you wish.
