Morning all,
Any ideas for why when I turn my lights on, one of my brake lights comes on permanently? It gets brighter when I press the brake pedal, but then never goes off. Just one side, the other one is working fine.
Thanks!
Good Morning,
Is there any chance its the rear foglight? The switch is on the indicator stalk
Update, it's actually both brakelights that stay on. One of them had a broken filament so just looked like it wasn't on, but now I've replaced the bulbs and see it's both brake lights that stay on.
Def not the foglight switch, I double checked
Bad earth
+1.
Knackered (or badly adjusted) switch on the brake pedal. Bad earth usually causes Christmas tree lights when the indicators are flashing.
Have you changed a rear bulb recently?
I once changed a twin filament brake/position bulb and had a similar problem. Turned out that the bulb was defective and the tail of one filament was bent across touching the other. I noticed when the dash lights illuminated every time I touched the brakes.
Wait, isn't the brake light dual filament and is normaly on with the lights?. Sounds like how they normaly work.
Yes, it's dual filament. A 5w filament for a position lamp and a 21w filament for the brake lamp on a different circuit.
So they're 2 rear lights? A separate bulb, and also 1 filament which is always on, then the brake lights s just the extra filament coming on?
