Title: fitting tte spoiler.
Post by: angryman on October 6, 2017, 18:25
Hi
just got tte spoiler back from bodyshop and now in sable colour.
hoping to fit tomorrow weather dependant.
Just a quick question for anyone that has fitted one, what did you use to bond it to the engine lid?
was it normal silicone or that gorilla stuff?.

I believe u need something way stronger in order to bond it. The guys that are on the other forums that im are using sikaflex to bond their type r spoilers to non type r civics. It would be ideal if you can screw or fix it the way it was originally mounted by TTE.

Sikaflex or Tigerseal. Mine was on with the two screws provided and TigerSeal. Wasn't going anywhere.
I wouldn't use anything weaker than that

i was like a nodding dog on a parcel shelf  s:D :D s:D  .

Job done.
Used tigerseal, that stuff is strong!
im happy with it.
measured three times using the template to make sure i was in the right position.
and it sits flush with no gaps.
Dont feel right drilling through your 2s engine lid! but its the correct way .

Don't forget to put up photos! Did you fit it in the OEM location or further back?

Its no problem at all, for me I wanted to go with a more streamlined back and reduce the weight as much as I can - glad its gone to a good home and you are happy with it  s:) :) s:)
