Title: Big end bearing
Post by: andyb on October 8, 2017, 23:43
Had an engine knock so decided to check shell bearings. Nothing suspect in the oil or sump but there is a little lateral movement from one bearing, as you can see there is a little wear on it.
Anyhow, I'm going to check the tolerances on all the big ends but what is the clearance supposed to be.

Seen a lot worse than that.  0.028 – 0.060 mm (0.0011 – 0.0024 in.)

Rod thrust clearance: 0.160 – 0.342 mm (0.0063 – 0.0135 in.)  Max  0.342 mm (0.0135 in.)
