It's apparent this is a common fault, and some of you lucky guys still have some warranty time left to run so can get them changed.. but I don't! So my question is as follows. Does the problem still exist for those of you who have had your alloys reconditioned? I only ask because I'm trying to figure out if it's Toyota's paint that's the problem or the actual material the wheel is made from. I don't want to get this done and three years later have the same problem. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. s:) :) s:)
I am on my second set of recon alloys and touch wood they have been ok, it seems that they sorted out the problem, both mine however, were under warranty. Pity you are a long way off of Seans contact - £25 p/wheel refurb - well worth it.
I had a set of new ones 8 months ago - they are being replaced next week for the same reason.
Ready for a refurb on mine (way, way out of warranty!). Can anyone recommend a good firm in the north-west s:?: :?: s:?:
I've looked at a couple of outfits but they're a bit short on quality given the prices they're charging s:shock:  s:shock: (lucky Sean!).
Also, have you refurbers had your wheels chemically stripped, blasted or both before refinishing s:?: :?: s:?:
KN acid strip, repair, shotblast, paint and then powder laquer.
