Title: Oil accumulators
Post by: m1tch on March 13, 2018, 12:44
Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone is running an oil accumulator such as the Accusump at all - or is a Moroso baffled sump ok to run for the project engine? The car will be mainly driven on the road but will also see a few track days from time to time.

Go for the Elise parts sump.
It's expensive but is a proper bit of kit.
Don't know anybody who has used an accusump but I do remember looking at them a while ago.

Just looking at the design of it, seems to just be a 2zz pan with some flappers in the bottom of it - less static baffling than a 1zz sump?

As far as I am aware it works and fits properly.
Other pans I have heard about sometimes have fitment issues.
If they use them on track in supercharged Elise's it will be good for MR2.
My feeling on oil accumulators is added complexity is unnecessary.

Good point, will look to get that then, also adds about a litre more oil which is always a good thing and its also fairly light weight as well it seems - will weigh the stock one and see the difference. Looks like it also has a drain back port as well for the turbo (much like the Moroso sump). I have a bit of time until I need to button the engine up but it makes sense if the Lotus track guys are happy with just a baffled sump.
