Title: Tyres
Post by: Stannyman on March 30, 2018, 14:56
Hi,
Advice on tyres please. I have on the front auto grip 185/55r15. Rear Goodyear excellence 215/45r16.
They have good tread but up front had the valve done today and the tyre fitter said there is cracking in the side walls. So I need to change. Do I change all four ( I know that is best on here advice) and what type toyos get a good write up and still keep the same size or change.  2006 mr2. Demon tweeks got a sale on four I think for 132 quid my fitter will charge 11 pounds tracking and fitted. Cheers

Aside from the tyre choice (which has been massively covered already, just have a few searches), just check that Demon Twerks will do the offer on a staggered set. Others have had a no go on that front.

I believe most recommend Toyo T1R Proxes for decent wet/dry grip and best value for money.

Cost abit more I think and abit hard to find in 15" but I personally love Yokohama Sdrives. Also they have harder sidewalls than some other tyres.
For me the ride and handling is perfect and the wet/dry grip is amazing, even in the winter. I use my MR2 as a daily and didn't get stuck once in the crazy snow we had a couple of weeks ago, even when I was messing about. What's funny is, it was actually better in the snow than most cars out there.
