Title: Headlamps - restore or buy used?
Post by: MrChris on April 20, 2018, 20:15
Hi all,

Another thread but need some advice please. I did a restoration on my headlamps with wet and dry + Meguiars PlastRx and found that the insides are very cracked. Is it worth taking them off and using the "oven method" to try and sort the insides or just find a pair from a breakers without this problem? Thoughts and opinions welcome.

Hello, I've not had the guts to try the oven method, but bought a replacement light from Rutland MR2 just recently. It's not new, and doesn't look it, but it's a great deal better than the old one which was almost entirely yellow. When they get that bad the acrylic is discoloured throughout the material, so no end of polishing will make a jot of difference. I figured £75 was a lot easier than risking damage...not to mention the time to do it. Hope that helps, just my opinion of course, and others may think differently.
