Title: Clutch advice
Post by: mark1307 on June 21, 2018, 06:48
mornning!
So I had the joy of a slipping clutch this morning so clearly needs a change!

Anyone know where the best place to pick one up is and if it's something i (with Kittle knowledge) can do myself? If not how much am looking at to get it done?

Cheers

An LUK or Excedy clutch kit can be found on EBay for around £55.  (both of very acceptable quality and performance)

Most competent garages should be able to do the job - it's not much different to any clutch job on any front-wheel-drive car.

Expect to pay around £250  for the labour, plus another £40 for quality replacement gearbox oil.

Not really a job for a solo beginner.  Quite a bit of kit needed and it's very cumbersome.

I don't believe in overkill for fluids. Go for Redline mt90

Don't forget to get new driveshaft seals for it too if you are getting it done.
Usually don't leak unless damaged upon removal/ refitting but worth changing while the box is out.

Good call - I'd completely forgotten
