Title: Exhaust flexies blowing - easiest/cheapest/best solution
Post by: russ69 on July 18, 2018, 15:09
Hi
My flexible sections on my exhaust have both started to blow. I have an '04, 96k miles which is a daily runner with a standard exhaust . What is 1) the cheapest solution to the problem
2) the easiest solution and
3) the best solution?
I would love to be able to fit a TTE style unit but don't have to £400++ to do this (Cobra exhausts etc on E-Bay) - which I suppose I've answered my best solution part.....

All replies gratefully received.
PS. I have a very mechanically minded mate with all the tools if needed.

Hi Russ

In order of appearance:
1) get a stock cat pipe (that's what the flexis are weldes to) from a willing donor. You might be able to pick up a decent one for pennies from a breaker, ebay or a member who has replaced theirs for a swap of some kind.
2) easiest solution is to buy a Cats4u cat off ebay. Lots of people have used these and they're only 120 delivered I believe. 5 bolts out and you're done.
3) the best solution for a stock car is a new stock cat. But that's stupid money. The cat from ebay (Cats4u) will definitely do the trick but longevity is a bit of a concern. Pay peanuts... And all.

The TTE backbox is entirely separate from the cat pipe and therefore not related to the flexis. So you can save your pennies a bit longer and get one :)

I just thought since Mike rejected your advances you might be on the lookout for someone else with "all the tools", if you know what I mean???
