It looks like the lower exhaust hangar got snapped when the previous owner had tried to remove the lower lambda sensor. It looks like the little metal sleeve that is wrapped around the last part of the exhaust before the tip has been detached, so it was rattling like crazy.
I had tried to fudge it all together with whatever I could grab at Halfords in a rush: glob of chemical metal "putty" between the exhaust and the sleeve, squeezed it all together and then some heat proof tape for the first layer to protect the duct tape... and then some duct tape to hold it all together.... but the duct tape pretty much just melted off within a few hundred miles and it has started to rattle again, so I need to get something more permanent...
Options?!?
1) take off the sleeve and hangar to stop the rattle, but will it start to droop?
2) find some way to repair this?
3) cheap, temporary replacement exhaust? (turbo build next year)
4) Get something like a Zero/Powerflow custom exhaust, but get them to put a turbo-sized spacer (with O2 sensors tapped in) between the turbo manifold and the new exhaust, so it is all ready for a turbo next year?
RE: Option #3
....how bad could a £275 Malian (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-MR2-MK3-ROADSTER-SPYDER-MALIAN-CAT-BACK-TWIN-CENTRE-EXIT-EXHAUST/273306216419?hash=item3fa251e7e3%3Ag%3A1NkAAOSwUmtbJ5vo&_sacat=0&_nkw=malian+mr2+&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=m570.l1313) exhaust be? Looks like an interesting stop-gap solution :)
How much work to swap that over?
edit: adding photo of the bit that has detached from the exhaust...
This one is NOT my car, but when I tried to get a photo under the car, it was too dark to use my phone - I've just put a big red arrow to the bit that is broken on my car....
A couple of suitable photos would improve the quality of this thread.........

Thanks - that would make sense, if I had one.... :-\
Try a locally owned friendly looking body repair shop. Go armed with cash and a pleading needy look! You might get lucky and find someone who is interested enough in cars to want to help keep one of ours on the road.
I have found that money for the workshop biscuit fund is always appreciated.
The worst they can do is say no or quote you large.
