Title: Heat Shield and Engine Bay Plastics
Post by: Darth Paul on March 15, 2005, 17:16
Thinking of getting the spray paint out...

Heatshield – am I right in thinking that it needs acid etch primer before the hi-temp paint?

Plastics – fuse box covers/rocker cover? What kind of primer/undercoat here? Again I'll use the hi-temp paint. Will plastic primer (the marker pen stuff) be heat resistent enough?

Didn't use any form of primer on heat-shield just used the old Halfrauds heat resistant spray.  Of course I did get the wife to do the obligatory rubbing down with sandpaper  s:lol:  s:lol:   [she doesn't like steel wool]

I didn't use primer either but used the black barbecue spray paint from Halfords for the higher temp  s:wink:  s:wink:

You can - Coley did some for a GB last year, look up your local automotive paint specialist and ask.
