Hi! My first post here as I've just bought a 2004. I've already been impressed by some of the helpful threads on here so look forward to joining in.
I'm wondering if this noise anything to worry about. I think the noise you can hear just when I stop the engine might actually be present all the time but it's drowned out by the normal engine noise, so you can only hear it after the engine stops. It's a kind of scraping noise that slows down as the engine comes to rest. This is a new car to me so I'm not quite sure what's normal and what's not yet! Thanks!
(I tried attaching the video but it was too large so here is a dropbox link)

Without listening to the video I suspect its the induction noise from the intake.
Does it sound like this?

It's all good. They all sound like that!
Yes sound like in that video shnazzle. And thanks for confirming jvanzyl - that's a relief!
I've got a cold air intake pipe directly from the side vent, it's surprising how loud the intake is if you put your ear to the outside of the vent on cold idle.

The trick with the 1ZZ is not to listen too much.
Close the engine lid, get inside, close the door with the widows up and the roof up, it should sound just fine!!

But... It sounds so nice with the roof down :)

Is that blasphemy I hear?
As it is November and it is currently raining intensely the mention of "roof up" is perhaps acceptable on the open forum, however @benjamino (https://www.mr2roc.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=25540) being a new Member should perhaps be advised that the hood is meant to be down at all times when the wheels are in motion. There are exceptions to this rule as in 1:@Ardent is not around ,2: Intense precipitation.

Ha! Yeah I quite agree. Took my son out in the dark yesterday with the roof down - such a fun experience. I work in front of a computer all day so that kind of raw dose of reality is very welcome!
Following that statement I believe others will also endorse your elevation from newbie to fully fledged MR2 ROC'er.
