Ange just can't stop looking for a decent 2. Each time she drives Foxy, she gets on the internet searching for one! She's seen a very low miler, one owner 55 reg with Hardtop and aircon, not leather sadly for £5,500. I think it's too much especially this time of the year. Thoughts anyone?
It does seem a little high, maybe prices are climbing at last [emoji848]
Post a link up so we can see why it's that price, mileage service history etc etc.

Dear Jane
Based on nothing more than your post.
I agree with you. Too much.
As you have picked up on other sales on here, low miles maybe, but does it have 13 stamps in the book?
AS said times before I would take a well cared for high miler than a neglected low miler.
As above. A link would help.
If Ange went for the one that is cheaper and better.
You would end up with a Salt n Pepper combo.
:) ;) :D
Apparently it has had oil changes each year by RRG Bolton, Lancashire (Toyota dealer) in its 11k miles. Don't know how to put link on to show you. Anybody in Chorley who can give it a once over I wonder for my mate!

I believe this could be the car in question.
Probably best not to show too much attention as the price could go up!
Yes that's it Tony! Still too expensive in my eyes though, afterall it's a 13 yr old car at the end of the day! :'(
Far too much! I personally am not sold on low mileage vehicles.
Bear in mind it will have only done short journeys so will have disproportionally high engine wear as most occurs within 30 seconds of start up.
Plus you would feel miffed when you still needed new suspension etc as much as a 70k car would whereas on a 70k car you would feel glad you were doing it.
Keep looking!
Yes, cheers Simon, great advice. :) It put me off when they'd put on new tyres all round due to cracking! What else has cracked on the car due to lack of use I would say. Will tell Angela later!
Some of my thoughts on the subject, to do with as you will.
The price is high in my opinion.
But, price is subjective and often negotiable.
It would seem that this is being offered by an established garage and likely reliant on its reputation.
Looking at the headlights, my guess is that this car has been in a garage most of it's life.
That doesn't necessarily mean it is corrossion free and would need a look at the underside .
Also worth checking is the hood operation and condition as it could have been folded for much of its life.
The tyres have been replace due to cracking. What make are the replacements?
Is the battery original? if so will need to be changed.
Similarly windscreen wipers.
Remember it is considered the wrong time of year to be selling a convertible and I doubt the garage will want to keep it's investment sitting in the showroom until the spring.
All in all it's likely the right car for the lady in question, but only at a better price.
Seems very steep. I've had several people point out really tidy looking cars in the last week or so that are 25% below what I thought they'd be....
A late model, top condition, low-ish mileage car should probably be ~£4k.
Have a look at that one if they're open to offers - as listed here, there's probably lots of age-related wear extras that are needed (new hood, new tyres, new wipers and if you're doing that properly - that's ~£1200 to start!)... there's well looked after ones with heated leather for <£4k, albeit with 40k-60k miles...
Not got leather seats and like others have said lights have a strange shaded yellow area, should be crystal clear if kept in garage and not used I should know :D
To be fair if it's like new and just out of showroom then I would want that sort of money at least.
The price of something depends on if you are buying or selling.
Jane (Ange) something is only worth (to you) what you are prepared to pay.
Maybe worth more or less to another buyer.
I'm assuming no aircon if cloth seats. or they are not original, and, I think hardtop was only on cars with aircon too, or am I mistaken?
Hi Caroline, this one has air con with cloth seats. I'm not sure, I thought most of the 2's that were fitted with Hardtop at time of manufacture had aircon but I'm sure someone will come along and tell us. :)
Yes that's correct

Totally agree I paid a fair bit for mine but thought it was well worth it giving the condition / mileage and how well it had been looked after, everyone to their own I suppose.

If it has aircon + hardtop - it might be that the seats were swapped out - very strange for such a low mileage car, unless it got damp and the leather went mouldy?!?
I'm sure I heard that the leather seats come with leather door cards: or more specifically the cloth seats come with plastic/cloth door card inserts - I've never really noticed, but somebody mentioned that they'd completed their leather upgrade by getting leather door cards.
If you wanted to bring the car back up to spec: seats can be replaced - I think I've seen the FL leather going for ~£150 for a pair, but heated will be more.... and you'll have to mount the switches in the dash, so not an easy upgrade, but well worth doing.
That said - it all seems like a ridiculous faff for such a premium-priced car.
Leather, air con and hard tops were all optional, however if you specced up a hard top from new, that also added air con in, so in theory someone could have ordered a car with hard top, air con and NOT leather.
I too think its too expensive for what it is.
And also there are better cars out there currently for sale on this forum, cheaper!
Looks like it's being advertised at around the going rate with maybe room for a bit of haggling. Low mileage 2006 cars seem to be priced around the 5k mark and this is probably 'unique' in that there can't be many with such low miles which is being used as the biggest selling point. There's a car currently being advertised at £1000 more on 14K, no air con and no hard top (no leather either) - so makes this one seem like a bargain!
As mentioned there are pros and cons of a car not being driven. Tyres have already been changed because they were cracked (is always suggested you do so ~5-7 years regardless), and looking at the MOT history has an advisory on pitted discs. But even if you bought any car that was a few years old, you'd still expect to have to budget for the odd item here and there, so more so something that is already 12 years old. If it ticks boxes, I'd say at least look at it. It's only money!
He did drop £500 but wasn't prepared to drop further - I may've been "tempted" at 5K but still at the end of the day its a 13 yr old car. :)
Just a thought!
I confess that I did consider mileage as a factor when I got my 2 but only sought nominal average, but looking at what is available today I noticed a 2000 ,2 , one owner , FSH, on 176,000 miles.
That does speak very well for the longevity of the car/ engine if serviced regularly.
( I believe I have seen that comment elsewhere) ;)
I know my car to be absolutely perfect, with leather, ac, hardtop, new suspension, recon engine, great calipers, new headlights etc... and I still wouldn't be expecting to get more than £2000 for it if I was to sell it. (Which is why I keep it instead lol). But in any case, no way I'd pay over 5k for an MR2 unless it had some serious engine swap.
Even most in the 3 - 4k I consider too expensive to risk, considering there is every chance of getting something that will soon need suspension, brake calipers, engine replacement, etc...
I'd rather have a 1500-2000 one and replace bits if I need to.
Personal opinion but if I were buying again I wouldn't put any premium on having ac, and at this age I'd buy on condition rather than spec or mileage. Unless it's mega low miles (as in, bought and kept as an ornament) I'd rather have something that's been well used and not spent a life doing short runs or sat stationary for long periods.
Couldn't agree more.
