Title: Mk3 Exhaust Manifold Studs
Post by: Slimesub5 on January 12, 2019, 21:46
Hi,
I'm in the process of taking off my pre-cats to smash out the inners!
I've undone the 5 manifold to head nuts/bolts but the studs have come out with the nuts.
Does anybody know the diameter and thread of thes 5 studs? I'll replace the studs and nuts with new....
Also, the 3 at the bottom of the pre-cat, what's the size of these?
Thanks

If you speak to Paul at tcb parts in the affiliates he can get them out to you fairly rapidly.

You could always soak them in kerosene or petrol and split them though if you wanted.

I believe @carolyn has written a how to on this.

I think that was in a thread, rather than a 'how to'.

Yes a good soak in kero or (perhaps ) Plusgas for a couple of days and they should part happily.  Diesel would probably work, though I haven't tried it.

These fit well for the head to manifold, with a copper coating they might not rust away so quick too.

I think the manifold to cat is m10x1.25 but wouldn't swear by it  :-\
