Title: Airbag light ( again!)
Post by: martin_b on February 2, 2019, 07:02
Hi all,

The problem i have is that the light will go off on startup but then, within about 10mins of driving will turn on.  The actual time it takes to turn on varies from seconds upwards.

The resistor is in place and is fine, i've tried resetting the ECU. so im a bit stumped as to what could be causing it.

(It had worked faultless for a couple of years up until about 6 months ago)

TIA

Martin

Are there any fault code to be read?

Sounds like resistor is degrading as it heats up.

This. Was common in other scenes as well. Cheap ebay resistors.

Ive jsut changed the resistor, it looked OK however I had a spare. Initial results are promising but the drive to work in the morning will be the real test.

Resistors going open circuit?  I'm surprised to read of this....anyone know what current goes through it?

Well the new resistor has defiantly fixed the issue.

The one it has replaced was several years old, however it might not have been the resistor itself as Ive re-soldered all the connections
