Title: Harness replacement.
Post by: dan944 on March 7, 2019, 18:31
So, I have an mr2 that I need to do a harness swap on. I'll have bumper, crash bar,  lights and exhaust off to do some other bits.

What's the best way to do this? In situ is a pain right? Although I do have long gangly arms that are said to be useful.

A couple of our members have done this.  I should think the connections behind the inlet manifold are the worst bit.

How's your clutch?   If it's got a high pedal and done a lot of miles... drop the lot and do it out of the car?

But It CAN be done!!

You're really going to struggle to do it without dropping the engine...
There are the connections that are on the intake side that are hard to get at, and if you haven't taken them off before it's really hard to know which way they come off... I'm honestly not sure it can be done. Happy to be corrected by anyone though..

On the upside. I have a spare engine on a stand to practice on. That may help. Practice the drills and do it blind I guess [emoji23]

Good man- that's a good idea! I really struggled with the alternator connection - it's got a little grey call on it...
