Title: What’s a soft top worth
Post by: ashtons99 on March 18, 2019, 22:26
I'm getting an "as new" original soft top next week and have an option of having it fitted which would mean leaving the old one behind.
I'm just weighing up whether it is worth getting the old one home based on what it would likely to sell for.
The roof is good apart from a tear about 1 inch long behind the passenger side window at the bottom where it meets the rear wing, also one or 2 cracks around the curve if the side window when it's folded
Do these things sell in that condition.

If its bad enough that it needs replacing, can't see much value in it to someone else. Bin it, it'll just end up cluttering up your garage.

There's always someone with a roof in worse condition than the one you're thinking of selling and there's always someone with very little in terms of budget. With that in mind then yes, you could probably sell it for a few quid.
BUT. They're awkward as hell to handle off the car, tear as soon as you look at them in cold weather and take up a ridiculous amount of room.
All that said, it would probably sell on the Facebook group, there's always someone after a bargain.

If you're getting the roof done in Swansea, it will be cut to pieces.

They recycle the windows.

What are you paying?
A nice cloth one from Swansea is just over 300 and any as new original soft top is likely to be at least 13 years old.
What does Dick charge fitted 150-200?

If your current top is bad I would just bin it I can see it sitting in your shed for a year until the other half makes you take it to the dump.

Thanks folks.  I will give it a bit more thought.
