Is there a cheap/simple solution to lowering the seats anymore than the plastic adjuster allows?
I could ideally do with the seat being another inch to 2 inches lower really.
Don't really want to go down the route of aftermarket bucket seats.

There are apparently some TRD rails that drop it by 10mm max. I found one reference to them on SpyderChat but no pictures unfortunately.
Other options include a seat 'foamectomy' A's is popular in the Mazda community, or a smaller steering wheel (which I went for in the end).
Thought I saw previous mention of removing the height adjustment mechanism but never found anything to corroborate it.
Other Stu is a big lad.
He put some S2000 seats in his. A small amount of fabrication needed but not much.
Worth asking him.
MX5 people put Elise seats in... less comfortable though.

No point for 10mm, as it's not really going to make a big enough difference.
I do however like the idea of foamectomy though, the only downside is the seats currently in the car are in great condition. I think i'll probably investigate this a little more. I guess shaving an inch or so, of foam out shouldn't affect the looks too much, but is going to have a big difference on the seating position.
I'm already planning on getting a 330mm steering wheel and boss kit, then a suitable spacer to bring the wheel closer to me. I've got a similar setup in my Clio 182.

Elise seats sound expensive, i did briefly look into some JK Composite seats, which are reasonably priced brand new. But i kind of like the look of the oem seats for now, and don't want to invest too much money into a new car before experiencing it for awhile first.
How tall are you @Darryl_1983 (https://www.mr2roc.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=25660) and what are the issues? I'm 6'4" and all legs. Apart from the initial shock at how tight it is compared to say a saloon (!), I've no real gripes.

Glad to see this reply, I'm 6'3" and was concerned I wouldn't get it one for a minute reading the thread ;D
I'm only 6 foot 2 but was on the verge of selling the car. Was getting terrible hip pain from having to turn my foot inwards to brake. Became more noticeable and worse when I was out running. Couldn't get beyond the three mile mark without being in excruciating pain.
Car off road during winter and the problem went away. Hence the change to a smaller steering wheel that I can comfortably get my legs under
Suppose we're all built differently.
If you haven't already got one - a hardtop is the easiest way to get a little bit of extra headroom!
(and it looks better ;-p )

I'm around 6'2 - 6'3. I've not measured my height since i was a teenager though.
I can drive the car, and it's not uncomfortable. But I'd be much happier if the seat was 2" lower than it currently is, I think this would make it more comfortable for me on longer journeys.

I've noticed the steering wheel is far too low and too large for me and my liking. A 330mm aftermarket is on the shopping list, with some spacers.
Hoping dropping the seating position a couple of inches, sorts this out, but the smaller wheel and spacer is going to help again.

I've got my Clio 182 for when i don't want to drop the roof, so hard to justify spending £500 on a hardtop.

I went 300mm. Makes it feel like an arcade cabinet/makes getting back in the Cooper S feel like I'm driving a large ship, but any larger and I'd have needed a deep dish to benefit from the difference.
I think I have a 320mm wheel, made a big difference (for reference I'm 6ft, always had enough space except for knuckles brushing my knees if braking), headroom never been a problem.

I've used a 300mm before in a previous 182, and it just left too small for daily use.... Track car would have been great. So found the 330mm perfect. I might just buy a boss kit and fit the wheel and 40mm spacer from my Clio for a couple of week though to see how i find it.
I've definitely decided to go down the route of foamectomy to begin with though, it makes sense to try and get the original seat to work for me as best i can before throwing money at the problem.

I think I've got a longer torso for my height compared to average. If i sit without slouching my hair just touches the roof, which is a bit annoying. I do tend to slouch though.
Just to add though, I've only driven the car about 50 miles from collecting it. As i need to find time to replace the gearbox around laying a new patio in the back garden and family life. So not had much time to play around with the seating position, to try and dial. I had a similar issue in my Z4 (e85), but the roof lining on that hung slightly (common issue i believe on them). Managed to find a slightly comprised seating position on that, but didn't have the steering wheel position issue on that as it had more adjustment.

From reading your other posts, sounds like you just need to spend time making minor adjustments. As long as you're not in any discomfort you'll get used to once you've done a bit more driving.
I didn't go down the aftermarket steering wheel route as wanted to retain the airbag. However, like a few others here, I did have the factory one re-trimmed and the bottom flattened. See this thread (https://www.mr2roc.org/forum/index.php?topic=64979.50). Can't say makes a massive difference to me space-wise but is at least nicer to touch.
