Title: Date for the 2004 updates
Post by: Porker on April 10, 2019, 10:07
Could anyone advise either the date or better still the VIN number from which the "2004" updates were incorporated into the car please?

The updates I'm referring to are the ones set out in the guide on this forum, https://www.mr2roc.org/forum/index.php?topic=4807.0 (https://www.mr2roc.org/forum/index.php?topic=4807.0)

Not sure exactly when it came in but my car registered 23/07/2004 has the updates, and Mulaz's car registered 17/04/2004 doesn't.

Hope that helps.

More likely to be related to date of manufacture rather than date of registration. So you would need to compare VINs.  The 10th character denotes the model year and will be a '4' for 2004.

Just did a bit more Googling on this having noted that there is an '0' in this position of the VIN of my own car.   Appears that this works for the US, but in Europe they only applied a 'loose' standard - documented here in previous posts as well.  So no way of determining build date from VIN for post-2003 cars, or at least data not published ( link (https://www.mr2oc.co.uk/know-your-2/mr2-general-info.html?view=kb&kbartid=39) to MR2OC forum post for early cars).
