Can you remove or move out the way this piece of the inside of the roof?
It's the inner piece that goes down into the drainage on either side of the car.
I believe you can. Just a cosmetic cover piece. Mine rarely see the light of day but just hang unattached to anything.
From the picture does not appear to be directly connected to the pocket/bags.
DON'T REMOVE THOSE.
I'd try watching what happens as you fold the roof first, it might be there to protect against wear on the hinge.

That's what I'm thinking. From where it's stitched along the bottom in the pic it just goes down a bit further and is loose.

What is the reason for wanting to remove them?

I have a tiny tiny tear at the bottom of the roof and just want to patch it from the back just to stop it from getting any worse
Gotcha. Good plan. :)
