Some time back I took the charcoal canister out, removed the line intake manifold, to the capped the solenoid and put a one way valve in the breather pipe.
Although the car runs perfectly ok, I noticed when taking the petrol cap off that the tank was sometimes sucking, sometimes under pressure.
Replaced the one way valve with a plug with a small pin hole.
Since then have noticed that at time the tank vent a lót of fumes even when running. When parked after a drive the petrol apparently heats up quite a bit.
The less fuel there is in the tank, the more vapor ofcourse and that vapour/gas expands way more when heated, thus vents a lot more.
Pre closed tank ventilation sytems it has always been like this but nowadays it gets unnoticed. It still happens though. Hence the solenoid opening and also closing! to avoid the intake tract being filled with an explosive vapour mixture.
Well, nothing... Just nice that thing work. How they work.

I pulled out the charcoal canister from my car, I simply fitted one of those pitbike/off road bike tank vents to the hard line in the engine bay, not had any issues with vacuum in the tank or fuel smell etc.
