Title: Roof leaking... drains.. ripped?
Post by: pistol pete on May 12, 2019, 18:18
how do everyone.
So i found the passanger side footwell and cubby hole very very wet.
hunting around checked all the drains etc. all clean.
but if i remove the side panel in the cubby and reach in, i can feel the material gulley for the drain, then as it attached to the next piece of material, there is a big hole, i wasn't sure if it should be stitched or Velcro'd, and is the drain ssytem part of the roof or its own separate entity,
Ill be putting hard to on for now, its been doing it a while as the rear seat bolt heads are rust so time to pull the carpet etc !!
just wondering if its new roof, or if there is a repair for it

thanks!

I had mine repaired when I had a new roof fitted. They are made of the same material as the roof, and become brittle and split. It's hard to describe if you've never seen it, but the drains form a sort of folded over channel which wraps around the back of the cockpit, below the bottom of the roof, which feeds into the collection bags. You can put your hand in the top of it, from lots of places, if you can get your hand there.
My offside one actually split around the drain just after I bought it, so the garage repaired it. When Jack fitted the new roof in Swansea, he found rips in both, and repaired them for me. It's an easy job, once you get at the bags, but you have to take the roof off to get them properly. Someone looked into replacements a couple of years ago, and they turned out to be about £100 a side,

I had the same problem with mine awhile back, the drain pocket material was rotten with holes in it, so I brought two new ones from Toyota, and jack smiths at Swansea fitted them for free when he fitted my new roof.
They was about £120 for both, I have the part numbers somewhere.
