Title: Brake noises!!!
Post by: Anonymous on April 4, 2005, 08:10
Hi All!!

On my way to work I noticed a really awful noise when braking.. like a screaching noise and Im not quite sure what it is!!
Since breaking up with my boyfriend..who happened to be a mechnic (ahh!!) I haven't had anyone to check over the car for me .. I have checked out the seach button but I couldn't find anything specific!   s:( :( s:(

What with all the threads Ive read about pre cats etc Im constantly worried anyway!!!

Could it just be the front pads need replacing?? Recon Toyota is the best place to buy from??

Thanks Guys!!!   s:wink:  s:wink:

liley the pads, most have a wear indicator that makes a horrendious noise to let you know they need changing.

Yes, I'd stick with the Toyota Pads.

If you choose not to, avoid EBC they are pants.

You may bend the metal indicators a bit, so they won't touch the disc anymore. Get them replaced anyway, but just so that you can drive around without everyone staring at you till you get the new pads  s8) 8) s8)

UPDATE!!!

Hello all... I managed to get the pads for £25.. bit of a result.. then they tried telling me a set of discs would set me back £120!! Is that right??
Its not through Toyota but Ive tried a few places and thats the average price!

Thanks   s:? :? s:?

assuming you need discs thats not a bad price.

I would however be tempted to stick with Toyota discs when needed.

Th brakes on teh roadster aere so good, I'd leave well alone unless you after a definative improvement in a pareticular area.

Like typing?  s;) ;) s;)  Sorry Mark, I'm sure yours is getting worse you know!  s:lol:  s:lol:  *ducks*

I'd agree with Mark, that sounds about right - probably pattern parts, though, I think I'd be tempted to go to Toyota for the discs myself.

BTW, if you're having trouble finding somewhere to fit the pads for a reasonable price, and can make it to Slough (not a million miles from Hounslow) then I could do it for you. Normally I'd do it for free, but £10 or something would be cool, as I'm utterly, utterly broke at the moment  s:) :) s:)

Only thing is, I'm away from Thursday till about the 22nd of April. Hmm. Probably not much use to you then, really.. D'oh!

Not long - they're pretty easy (the fronts, at any rate) on the '2, an hour tops, and that's with a tea break I reckon  s:) :) s:)

I'm sure there was a how-to on  w www.spydermagazine.com (http://www.spydermagazine.com) w  - but the site appears to be dead as a doornail now..

You've gotta love embarassing noises, haven't you  s:lol:  s:lol:  My clutch occasionally 'squeaks' as you move the pedal, highly embarassing as it's quite loud (and comes from the engine bay, rather than the pedal by my feet).  s:) :) s:)
