Title: ABS
Post by: Petrus on October 9, 2019, 00:11
Is there a section on it with all the bits illustrated in the workshop manual?

With the road dry I am very much ok wih the system but that is when it has basically no function.

The olive harvest season has started ánd rain is coming. Last year I had some scary experiences with the abs basically reducing my braking because one wheel was on the mud.
The whole road slippery was even worse but that I could deal with by simply preventing wheel slip myslef.

What I would like to know is:
1. whether there is a simple way to switch the system off and have it work like non abs
2. if I like it; whether it is possible to take the lot out and have a normal system

Thanks.

1. Pull the ABS fuse or unplug a wheel speed sensor
2. Depends if pulling the ABS pump/ecu and all other associated parts would affect the speedo given how most modern cars take the speed reading from one of the wheel speed sensors.

Thanks, will have a look at the 40 amp one.

The sensors need to be left in place I think. I would only take the hydraulics out. Well and put tape over the warning light.
