Title: Replacing rear brake pads
Post by: Anonymous on April 10, 2005, 11:49
Does anyone know how to do this?

I have replaced the front discs and pads with no problems (£90.00 including vat and next day delivery from  w www.speedways.co.uk (http://www.speedways.co.uk) w .  (To put that into perspective, Toyota wanted £293.00 fitted!!)

I understand that the handbrake mechanism is attached to the rear caliper, but cannot see an 'obvious' way to push the pistons back into the calipers.

On previous cars I've owned, the piston is 'screwed' back into the caliper.

Any help would be appreciated.

Also, does anyone know if a workshop manual is available in either 'paper' form or on disc ?

Thanks

IIRC, you can't push the rears back in, you have to screw them.

Hiya Slynx,

Do you know if these are OEM parts or are they pattern parts? Just wondered if the quality was as good as MrTs cos that is a very good price.........

I don't want a reduction in braking performance..........

They are pattern parts (they do meet OEM specs though)

Been on 10 days now, and to be honest, although the old discs and pads were knackered, these seem to be very good.  No complaints so far....
Certainly no reduction in performance, and feel really smooth.

You can push the front ones in, the rear ones have to be screwed.

Should I be looking at dilled and grooved disks or just go for the normal ones?
