Title: LED rear lamps
Post by: Petrus on January 9, 2020, 15:14
A gf commented on the rear running lights being quite dim.
They were.
Ordered Philips LED 21/5W direct replacements.
The swap is not even 5 minutes work.
The old ones definitely were ripe for replacement as the bulbs were blackening on the inside.
Being red LEDs they do not blind but they sure are brighter!!

Quote from: mr2noob on January  9, 2020, 17:43modified PFL tail lights where you had 4 constant lights, instead of two, so there were no rear light + brake lights, but all bulbs acted as rear lights and brake lights.

I am unclear about what you mean. On the PFL the brake and running lights are combined in the same bulb.
The other red one is the fog light. They mod the fog lamp into a combined running/fog? Should not be too challenging as the fog is 21W so a 21/5W and wiring to suit the extra running light would do the trick!
Nice one that; will have a look into it.

p.s. found it. He simply deletes the fog fitting and replaces it with a second running/brake socket and leaves the customer to sort the fog lights.
Not very elegant imo.

I am going to do the LED conversion of the bottom lights, many JDM cars dont even have fog lights, Btw it is not an issue in Ireland but in the UK a fog light needs to be added to these imported cars.
