Engine got wrecked at Mallory Park on Sat. Max revs in fourth gear, loss of power, smoke and a lot of engine oil over the track and the MX5 behind me..... Oil filter decide to come undone.....
Have got a spare 2ZZ with stage 2 cams to drop into it. Will need a standalone ECU to get the best out of it. Anything for sale out there?
Have you tried RRR?
There's a couple of apexi 2zz commanders out there too.
Yes, am in touch with them, Just thought I would see if anything up for sale
If its for your track car then I think RRR would be a good bet. Race cars are their thing by all accounts they're road tunes are a bit rough.
Here's one on ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-Celica-1-8-2zz-APEXI-FC-ECU-COMMANDER-RARE-414BT007-ZZT231/174140044885
You could make the guy an offer and then I'm sure someone has a 2ZZ stg 2 cams map you could upload and the fine tune from there?
One of my reasons for ditching the Apexi and going with the Black was the lack of immobiliser on the Apexi.
Not such a worry on a dedicated track car but a necessity for me.
The Black is a good deal, but if you're so inclined you could DIY with a Speeduino and Tuner Studio for about £300.
The last couple of months I've been doing my Datsun and contrary to popular belief its very possible to get a good tune on the road with Autotune.
Called RRR today but were engaged. As long as cost is not to mad I am inclined to go with them due to the fact they have done a lot of 2ZZ work. Have orered light weight flywheel today as well. might as well push the boat out
Cool- did you also order the arp flywheel studs?
not yet!
Engine with stage 2 cams now in and running. Fidanza light weight flywheel and Rogue intake added to car as well, Just a few fiddly jobs to finish before i trailer it To RRR on sat for ECU and map. If all ok going to try and get to Mallory park for Sat 28th

Before you go, make sure that intake is as open and wide as it can possibly get before you go. That's the thing Greg from RRR complained about with the last stg2 2zz.
Bored out TB already?
Should be a monster on track :)

The inlet manifold ID is actually matched to the TB ID and visually 2zz TB doesnt get smaller in the middle. I did some measuring in the other thread. No idea if any gains can be had. There is a bit of material you can remove to open up the IM but not that much. Around mm or two.

It was probably when Mike went for his map on his stg2 2zz but Greg apparently was trying to get more air in and had some "idea". No idea what it was.
Guessing not relevant for Stg2 2zz forced induction though.
TB is standard, Rougue intake I assume will give it enough air. Have to see what they will do with it
Picked up car from RRR with new ECU 18th March, said tat it was "holding " back and down on power... Went to Mallory Park on 20th. Felt quicker than before and I was snatching 5th earlier than before on the straights. Cut out after 30 miles, rolled into pits via the pit exit!. Wouldnt start, took a plug out to check for spark after having checked all connections etc. Got spark. Next take plugs out to put some petrol inside it, took 4th pug out, all mashed up!!!!!
Day over at 11am!!
Bought donor Corolla T sport next day and collected it from Gloucester the next day. Both engines out within two days. Dropped and snapped exhaust valve head on number 4 cylinder, piston and head destroyed!!! Shim missing from valve head and not found
Engine back with me today with the stage 2 cams transferred over and all correctly shimmed. Build engine up and get it back in this week
Idea to keep you busy during the lock down period
Or should I say not ideal to have broken in the first place
Will be up and running thursday. Should be able to have a quick while i wait dyno session at RRR once all done. then store it away ready for when I can use it again
back on the RRR dyno Friday
