Title: Spats and splitter?
Post by: Hawkes41 on February 21, 2020, 14:44
I've not seen it but have been wondering what a FL car with front spats and a universal flat splitter would look like, has anyone done it?

Good question. I would also be keen to see if anyone has done this. In Bernie's post about a potential front end swap the other day someone mentioned a HZ Dynamics front lip. have a look at that, I'm tempted.

Yeah I've thought about the HZ lip but on a FL car it doesn't look low enough for me. PFL with the lip looks great but dont fancy respraying a whole bumper

Apologies if I haven't quite grasped what you both mean.

But I think @Topdownman and @Call the midlife! Have a variation on what you describe.

Mine is a pfl front bumper and pfl spats with a rubber skirt below.

Johns is more like what you are describing.

I imagine there would be a small gap in the centre between the bumper and skirts but no reason why you couldnt fibreglass that in if you wanted to fill the gap?

Yes... And no... 🤓 Simon has the HZ dynamics style front lip on his PFL bumper, I've got a Maxton design front "splitter" on my PFL bumper.

No spats on either and no blade splitter like the OP is looking at.
I believe Patrick Chambers makes a lip splitter though.

How simple was the skirt to fit?

She looks amazing. I really like that low front end look. does it catch much?

I dont think Mikey has spats, just the lip?

The rubber skirt is easy enough to fit, you just have to be prepared to drill though your bumper as double sided tape is not enough to hold it on.

This has been done with a carbon effect skirt on a fl with spats too;

This would be my ideal as mine is sable grey too! But sourcing a bumper and lip and getting them painted is a lot more money and hassle than what I am referring to.
For info this is the kind of splitter I mean

So just to update and wrap this up the seller has decided, after a ding this week, that if it had been a major prang he wouldn't have a replacement so is keeping it as a spare
A tad gutted but hey ho can understand his concern
